Our History

1954
Founded by Mr. Luigi Consonni, OMAC initially focused on third-party mechanical machining.
1958
OMAC begins designing and manufacturing mechanical pullers and tensioners for power line stringing, marking the company’s first steps into the transmission sector.
1960
OMAC opens a new production site, expanding its capabilities to meet growing demand.
1970
A new division is established to specialize in hydraulic machines for power line stringing.
1980
OMAC invests in research and development with the creation of an engineering division, advancing its technical expertise.
1985
The company enters the railway sector, launching production of stringing systems for railway power lines.
2000
OMAC invests in a new production site, complete with a dedicated test field, ensuring higher production efficiency and machine quality.
2005
OMAC strengthens its sales office to ensure a closer relationship with customers and provide enhanced support.
2010
Two larger CNC work centers are added to the production site, allowing the company to manufacture machines with pull capacities up to 50 tons.
2012
OMAC plays a key role in electricity distribution across the UK by supplying 18-ton, 9-ton, and 4.5-ton puller/tensioners for reconductoring projects.
2013
OMAC continues its tradition of innovation with the delivery of 90-ton reel stands and 25-ton winches for the INELFE project, an interconnection between Spain and France involving 320 kV underground cables.
2014
OMAC celebrates 60 years of excellence, reflecting on six decades of innovation and growth.
2015
The company pioneers special machines for helicopter-based stringing, collaborating with RTE France and IEC Israel to meet the unique demands of national power grids.
2016
The OMAC Academy Project is launched with the opening of a third plant and a new open field test site, OMAC 3, further enhancing R&D and training capabilities.
2024
OMAC celebrates its 70th anniversary, ready to embrace new opportunities and overcome challenges in the years ahead.
